How long should it take to change a heater core on a 2001 Taurus ?

And do you have to recover the refrigerant, If so why ?How long should it take to change a heater core on a 2001 Taurus ?I don't believe you have to worry about the A/C IMO. The heater core will have two hoses that might have to be disconnected. And it's located in the engine compartment in the back on the firewall. You'll see two 5/8%26quot; sized hoses, one is the inlet, and the other an outlet for the antifreeze/coolant to circulate through the heater core. If you could, you should buy a service manual for the vehicle at you local auto parts store. The brand is either Chilton, or Haynes and they go for about $20-$25. Plus it's an investment, and it's better to read up on it to avoid getting into problems that may cost you time. Below is a link of the repair manual i'm talking about. Hope you ix it.How long should it take to change a heater core on a 2001 Taurus ?The billable hours is 5.5 remove and replace

yes they have to recover the refrigerant (r-134a) because the EPA wont let them release it in to the atmosphere and they can just put back the same amount you had before and shouldn't charge you long as you had enough for your system to run
